Dream: Bears and Babies

Every now and then, I write down a dream. This one is from a year ago and I just came across it. Maybe I’ll think about what it meant…

I was living in a big sort of log lodge. A sort of loft looked down on the main “gallery” and there were bedrooms off and up to sides.

We had bears who were hibernating in big rooms/stalls with sliding barn doors all along one side of the gallery. There were at least three adult bears asleep. Plus, in the middle, were some human babies (mine?) who were also hibernating.

It became clear that one of the adult bears was waking up. Something I/we had done had roused it. We (me? my partner? one of our sons? all of us?) went to our respective bedrooms to nap, while the bear hopefully went back to sleep.

Then I saw a burly worker-man hunter-ish guy leading the adult bear away on a leash. I wasn’t exactly upset by this. I was glad that the bear wasn’t a threat to us. But it felt like something of a loss. I was glad, I think, that the other bears and the babies were still in our “cupboards” hibernating.
