Prompt: Random A-Z List of Prompts

Here’s one of my favorite ways to create new writing prompts. Go through the alphabet one letter at a time — quickly — and write down the first thing you think of that begins with that letter. Remember to go fast, and do not think! If you equivocate over any letter, you’ll lose the energy you’re seeking. When you’re finished you’ll have 26 new prompts you can write from. Here’s an example of the list I came up with recently:

A Assholes

B Boys

C Cummins

D Dog stories

E Efforts

F Fuck-ups

G Girlfriend

H Heroes

I Irritations

J Jump-ups

K Krazy

L Lovers

M Men I admire

N No’s

O Omissions

P Prides

Q Quiet reactions

R Riches

S Sadnesses

T Tryings

U Underwhelms

V Victoria

W Wise-ups

X Excess

Y Yesses

Z Zeroes
